Puputan Square in the center of town. The museum housed
in a spacious complex built by the Dutch in 1932 and

Supreme God is near the museum. Continue to Werdi
Budhaya Art Center with the interesting architecture
of its individual pavilions is a showplace for Balinese

Visit Tanah
Lot, the beautiful temple on a barren rock
island on Bali's southewestern coast, one of the
most photographed spots on the island. One of
Bali's most important sea temples, the sanctuary
at Tanah Lot is built a top a huge rock
surrounded by the sea. Built by one of the last
priests to come to Bali from Java in the 15th
century, its rituals include paying homage to
the guardian spirits of the sea. Sea snakes
found at the base of the rocky island are
believed to guard the temple from evil spirits
and intruders. |

GK5.Pura Luhur Uluwatu Tour

Less visited
by tourists than Tanah Lot, Uluwatu is
perched high on a limestone cliff high above the
southern seas. Pura Luhur uluwatu, one of the
six holiest temples in Bali, is 25 km south of
Jimbaran. It is thought that an architect-priest
originally built the temple in the 11th century.
Uluwatu is a breathtaking beautiful place to be
at sunset as the silhouette of the setting sun
shimmers in the ocean. The architect and temple
complex is visited regularly by Hindu followers
across the island to pay homage to the Gods of
the sea. |
